Around Ireland’s Coast
THE 2027 CHALLENGE
Solo. Unsupported. On an Electric Trike.
I'm setting out to cycle the entire coast of Ireland on an electric trike, carrying everything I need for the journey.
No support vehicle. No team. No one waiting around the next corner.
Just me, the road, and a long way to go.
The Challenge
This isn't simply a cycle tour, it's a test of endurance, resilience, and self-reliance.
I'll be travelling solo around Ireland's coastline, navigating changing weather, challenging terrain, and long days on the road. Every mile will be ridden under my own power, with my electric trike carrying the equipment, supplies, and essentials I need to complete the journey.
There will be no backup vehicle and no support crew. Every decision, every setback, and every success will be mine alone.
My goal is to demonstrate that having a severe form of asthma does not define a persons limits. My aim is to inspire others with my passion for adventure. Its more than a personal challenge; its a testament to the power of human spirit and the power to overcome obstacles.
Why?
Because some challenges are worth taking on simply because they're difficult.
This journey is about pushing boundaries, embracing uncertainty, and discovering what is possible when you commit to something bigger than yourself. It's about resilience, adventure, and the determination to keep moving forward, one mile at a time.
Follow the Journey
The adventure doesn't begin until May 2027, but the challenge has already started.
Over the next year, I'll be documenting everything that goes into preparing for a solo, unsupported cycle of Ireland's entire coastline. From route planning and equipment testing to training, logistics, budgeting, and learning how to live from an electric trike for months on the road.
This isn't just about the ride itself, it's about the journey to the starting line.
Follow along as I tackle the countless decisions, challenges, and preparations required to turn an ambitious idea into a reality. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the planning, the setbacks, the lessons learned, and the milestones reached before a single mile of the coastline is ridden.
Then, in May 2027, the real adventure begins.
One rider. One electric trike. The entire coast of Ireland.
Meet Bob, my trusty recumbent etrike.
Bob is a HPVelotechnik Scorpion fs20 and having never had a trike before or really cycled much since a child we are getting along thankfully rather well.
One in four people in the UK have a lung condition.
We all deserve the right to breath.
Make a donation.
I plan to fundraise along my way for a charity thats close to my heart, Asthma and Lung UK.
I have a JustGiving page to accept donations.
